Recently we were looking at a group of proposals to choose a vendor.
Proposal #1 was 90% terms and conditions and 10% what they were going to do for the client.
Proposal #2 was 85% terms and conditions and about 15% what they were going to do for the client. But what they promised to do for the client was essentially the same as Proposal #1.
Proposal #3 was again 90% terms and conditions with great emphasis on the penalties for not paying on time, and about 10% mentioned services they would provide for the client. Again, little differentiation in the list of services from Proposal 1 or Proposal 2.
And so on through the pile. We did not find one proposal that actually lit a fire, promised success, or even said why they were the best choice from among the others in the pile.
How well do your proposals stand out from the competition? How well do they sell the prospect that you are their only choice for achieving their goals? Most importantly, how often do they get chosen as the company to do business with?
Often the final decision is made based on the proposal you provided. And frequently the ultimate decision maker wasn’t even in the room when you did that dazzling PowerPoint. Now it’s up to your proposal to do the job of selling. Is it up to the challenge?
We’ll tell you! Send us a sample proposal. We'll analyze it against several critical criteria and give you a report card. More important, we'll give you several ways to improve success. In proposals, coming in second is simply being the first loser. We'll show you how to come in first time after time.
Include the answers to these questions:
Questions:
What is your competitive landscape?
What is your current close rate? (How many proposals are accepted compared with how many you generate?)
What are your advantages over your competitors?
Any additional comments or questions.
